Someone apparently has stolen my cute little girl, and replaced her with an angry stomping mean little wretch. What the fuck. Where did my cute little kid go?

OMG do we know this feeling. We will periodically ask "Where did cute boy go?"

Sympathies. This too shall pass.

She's a time traveler. She'll be back in a year or so.

This is why I like borrowing kids and not having them full time. I enjoy them when they're bright and happy and fun. When they get stompy and pouty and rotten, I send them back where they came from and go home to my quiet house :)

*hugs* I'm sorry you & the kiddo are having a rough time right now. I'm sure there are many rewards for parenting, things that will make you say "it was all worth it"...just try to keep those in mind when your inner Homer Simpson is rarin' to go *hugs*

But I bet she's cute when she's angry, until the crying and stomping and yelling starts....

Welcome to parenthood. This is about the time that the dual nature of humans appear. If y'all are not the ones teaching her this behavior (and I can't imagine you are), then she is learning much of it from the heathens she is attending school with. This is about the time that the dual nature of human children starts to appear though. You will begin to see this side of the cute child more and more until she reaches about 13 and then she will stop talking to you for very long periods of time for a few years. You will still see the cuteness on many occasions, but be prepared for this side of her to be more and more apparent as she starts trying to see what works best to get what she wants. Do not feed this behavior with any kind of reward else it will continue growing to massive proportions.

Sorry you are having a hard time with mom gone too.

Isn't this five years too early?

*sigh* It's just a phase - I hope, and one that does not end with the sullen all black leather wearing and the constant sneering, I hope even more.

I think she just needs more sugar! yeah! A hot fudge sundae and going fishing or having a round of mini golf with Daddy time, maybe?

If it does continue, you can just take comfort and think of the day when some hopeful young man knocks on your door and says he is there to take her out on a date. Then you can access all that inner frustration and let it out. Just like in the song:

The Declaration of Independence
Think I could tell you that first sentence
But then I’m lost

I can't begin to count the theories
I've had pounded in my head
That I forgot

I don't remember all that Spanish
Or the Gettysburg address
But there is one speech from high school
I'll never forget

(Chorus)
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y'all run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun

Well now that I’m a father
I’m scared to death one day my daughter
Is gonna find
That teenage boy I used to be
That seems to have just one thing on his mind

She’s growin' up so fast
It won't be long before
I’ll have to put the fear of god into
Some kid at the door

(Chorus)
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Now ain't it son?
Y’all go out and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Probably be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun

(This next part said soft as in an aside:)

Now it's all for show
Ain’t nobody gonna get hurt
It’s just a daddy thing
And hey, believe me, man it works!

Bwahahahhahaa!

Well nip it in the bud now. i knew a guy in college who would throw temper tantrums to get his way. it apparently worked for him from the ages of 2 thru 18. It is a horrible truth that if you make a big enough fuss people will give your your way, even if only to shut you up.
