Floating down through the clouds, memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens and in the corner of some foreign field,
I had a dream. I had a dream.
Good-bye Max, Good-bye Ma.
After the service when you're walking slowly to the car,
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell, and touch the silk in your lapel.
And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand, and hold on to the dream.
A place to stay, enough to eat.
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears
And what's more, no one ever disappears.
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no one kills the children anymore.
And no one kills the children anymore.

Night after night, going round and round my brain
His dream is driving me insane.
In the corner of some foreign field the gunner sleeps tonight.
What's done is done.
We cannot just write off his final scene.
Take heed of his dream.
Take heed.

We started off with breakfast, and then some food shopping (despite the HUGE amounts of vegetables in our refrigerator, there was really no other food to eat in the house), and then there was some bathing suit shopping. After that, there was some car packing, and scampering off to the party at [livejournal.com profile] whuffle and [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet's house. I had forgotten [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet had a Wii. I rocked the Wii bowling, which sounded good running through my Marantz receiver (for the fireworks and projector setup). I also kept the party supplied with a liberal amount of strawberry margaritas, which made the Whuffle Clan all smiley. :)

I saw a bunch of people at the party I hadn't seen in a while, including [livejournal.com profile] tigerbright and [livejournal.com profile] browngirl (and [livejournal.com profile] teddywolf), [livejournal.com profile] persis and I met [livejournal.com profile] whitechii, who recognized me and Widget from our LJ Icons. :) I also hadn't seen [livejournal.com profile] greenlily in probably more than 10 years, possibly since shortly after High School ended. :)

I relaxed. I drank margarita. I talked with friends. Widget partied with a couple of other girls who were a bit older than her, but seemed to not mind a younger companion. We left around 8:30pm or so, right when the next wave of people were arriving (*wave*, sorry I missed talking to you) so we could get Widget home in time enough to sleep so she wouldn't be a camp-zombie this morning. We watched some more episodes of the 4400 from the Tivo, and then did a little bit of Bedtime Sudoku ([livejournal.com profile] siercia and I both got stuck trying to finish it) so we outened the light, and went to bed. :) (Yes, I said Outened)

I call the day a success.
