I almost wore myself out this weekend. I took a half-day off on Friday, went up to a friends house to borrow a Baby Backpack. It looks like a frame-pack for hiking, but it's got a nice little seat and straps to hold a baby. Siercia and I then returned south to the Blue Hills to do a little hiking, to see how Hannah likes the backpack. Like most other things, she liked it a good amount! She gets to be out, seeing things, near Mommy or daddy, and she can SEE over or around my head. It keeps her upright, and she's nice and secure. We hiked an hour and a half or so, and then returned home, the experiment a success. As you can imagine, hiking around with an extra 25-30lb of baby on your back, even well-suspended, makes like a little harder, so I was tired.
Saturday AM dawned nicely, and since it was warm, I convinced Siercia to come watch me kill myself playing Ultimate Frisbee. I've played Ultimate since freshman year of highschool, and absolutely love it. I ran around, jumped and caught frisbees (and tripped and fell down, and missed frisbees) for two hours. Hannah seemed to enjoy being out in the sun, and behaved pretty well for the time. So, more running.
We stopped on the way home at a big lighting/appliance store and bought (yay) a new chandelier for the dining room. Or, at least, we ordered it. It'll be in soon.
Sunday brought more doings. Hannah's taken to waking up EARLY again (p00t) so we got up and watched the Formula One race on TV while she had breakfast. Siercia took her shopping, and then we went to her Aunt and Uncle's for a nice late-easter get-together. Hannah kept everyone amused, of course, and she got to eat real food with a real fork!
After this dinner, we got home about 4pm, and I decided to hurt myself some more with Hannah, so I stuck her in the pack again and tromped over to the Esker to do some more hiking. We walked up and down some hills, across a small stream, and all over the place. At one point, I followed what was called the Marsh trail, and soon found out why. Yup, it crosses a marsh, and if you couldn't guess it, I stepped into a sinkhole, juuuust over the edge of my boots. After managing to NOT fall over, and dump Hannah, AND unstick myself, I did make it back out safely, but hey, that was fun. So, I got home before Siercia ran off to her book club, and gave her Le Bebe while I hosed myself off to get rid of that lovely swamp mud smell. Yech.
So, I'm tired. I'm sore. But I'm happy. I had a good weekend. I got to get out and get some real exercise again. I got to spend time with Siercia and Widget. Yay. But Ow Ow Ow.
