So, I missed out entirely on blogging last weekend. I still have it saved. I'll get back to it.
This past Weekend!
Friday Night: Beer with co-workers celebrating a officemate's birthday. Not your Average Joe's. Fun time. After that? Home Depot for a new toilet flapper, and then on to Co-worker's J's house for PARTY. Co-worker J is 23, so party is filled with wall-to-wall college folks and myself. Heh. Funniest part was me sitting on the porch BBQing, and a kid comes up to me, introduces himself, makes small talk, and then says, "So, you just graduated too?" 'Nah, I've been out of school a while.' (Actually, the cops showing up was pretty funny too) Party over (for me) at about 1:15am. Home. Sleep
Saturday. Up at 8am for SHEEP AND FIBRE! We went to the Hopkinton, NH Fiber Faire to see SHEEP! LLAMAS! ALPACAS! Spinning wheels! Looms! We spent from probably 10:30am until about 4pm there, seeing things and animals, petting the same, eating BISON steak and cheese sammiches, and watching sheep dog trials (which are pretty cool!) We stopped at a Buffalo Farm on the way out of New Hampshire, and they let you go right up to the (electrified) fence and even pet them. DAMN BUFFALO ARE HUGE. LIKE SMALL CAR HUGE. Eek. (and they have very raspy tongues!) Saturday night, we stopped to see ex-co-worker S in Manchester, and then Widget and I dropped off
siercia and Hannah and I deferred going to the BONS Dinner because Hannah had been up pretty late and had a cold thing happening. Went home, and packed racing supplies for...
Sunday! Race Day! Up again at 5am, to Millis to get the race truck by 6:15am, and to Devens by 7am! Everything started out well, I was there early, stuff got set up, and we only had 130 people! But, things went a little wrongly in lots of small ways. We had a car drop oil around a significant portion of the track. We had some inexperienced timing people, and that resulted in a few downtimes. Someone ran over one of our timing cables (which was nowhere near where folks should have been driving) and destroyed one, meaning I had to run a new cable out there in the middle of some runs. Another guy had his clutch quit thankfully near the end of his run, but that meant pushing a 3000lb BMW out of the way so other cars could run. We managed only 3 runs for each of the cars in the three heats. Of course, they were 80 second runs. :) However, at the end of the day, I did get FIRST PLACE in my class (FSP) driving A's Mistubishi Lancer, which he's got pretty well set-up this year!
End of day, we packed stuff up, and got the heck out of Dodge only to have the truck battery die in the Dunkie's lot down the road. Hmm. I managed to Macgyver a repair by running the internal generator long enough to charge the truck battery enough to get the truck started. :) Made it back to Millis fine, and even made it back to Quincy fast enough to make sushi dinner with my girls for Mother's Day!
Another great 2007 weekend!
