Grrrr....

Woman hit by train while driving blames Satellite Navigation System. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/6646331.stm

"I can't completely blame the sat nav because up until there, it did get me where I needed to go," she added.

...

"If maybe I had been more aware of the situation, I wouldn't have had the accident."

NO KIDDING.

Translation:

"I'm a high maintenance moron who expects others to do EVERYTHING for me. I'm too stupid to notice railroad tracks and need them pointed out to me. I'm incapable of accepting responsibility for my own actions."

It's a shame she didn't get back into the car before the train hit. It would have benefited the gene pool.

Not that I stand up for stupidity, but to be fair, it seems like the train signal was the real failure point here. If she saw a red light, would she have opened the gate to go through? And why wouldn't the satellite navigation have put 'railroad crossing' on its map?

I'm inclined to not be quite as harsh about it; it sounds like the
crossing was easily mistaken for a farmer's livestock gate, in which
case treating it like an airlock and opening them one at a time makes
perfect sense. Why she didn't notice the TRACKS upon opening the gate
and before driving in is a bit beyond me, though.

Apparently this happens a lot in Germany -- the GPS thing says "Turn left" and they turn left right then, not at the next left -- which lands them in, if they're lucky, a field or some mud.

Germans, apparently, are still both obedient and literal.
