Can't tell for certain from the photos...was it the big resistor that overheated, or some other component? I assume that the bulge that formed in the plastic was facing down when the incident occurred. Curious. Wonder if the solder joint by the red band of the resistor came loose...
Pretty sure it was the resistor, although the resistor itself isn't too blackened. And actually, it was "blown out" from the beginning, and dried that way, and no, it was facing UP. The burned out part was facing the roof of the car.
