The Grouchy Ladybug
Aug. 13th, 2003 08:28 pmWidget really got to me tonight. I wanted her to grow up not having all these wacky irrational fears that I hear of people having, and she's at this point now where she's afraid of all these things: Ants, spiders, other kids walking around at the playground, playing on a toy with some other kid, sirens (no matter HOW FAR AWAY they are), the fucking Ice Cream Man. I mean, shit, come on, she LOVES Ice Cream, but if she hears the Ice Cream Truck with its damned song playing ANYWHERE, she turns into a crying snotty sniveling screaming mess who ABSOLUTELY NEED TO BE PICKED UP NOW NOW NOW. She knocked me over at the playground today because, while she was on top of the play structure, some other little girl smaller than her APPROACHED the stairs.
I want my child to grow up like I am, not afraid of things, and willing to try new stuff. Who taught her to be afraid of all these things? It's getting old very fast.
