Man, I haven't substantively updated in a long time. Cast your mind back three weeks or more.
prunesnprisms married her dear M, in a celebration where I was the best man and
siercia was the Matron of Honor. We spent a wonderful 3 days partying, drinking, playing Guitar Hero, dressing up and eating to celebrate their wonderful wedding day. I was, I should say, a most excellent Best Man, making sure the groom stayed hydrated, as non-nervous as possible, ferried things around a lot, made a great best-man speech (albeit a little long, but enjoyed) and had an absolutely great time up in North Conway, New Hampster.
After that, Siercia and widget and I vacationed in nearby Ashland, NH, which was a thoroughly relaxing time on a nice small lake in a tiny cabin, kayaking, swimming, building elaborate sand fortifications (which lasted the whole week we were there), stargazing (2 satellites, 3 random meteors!), watching wildlife (Loons at 20 feet, a Beaver surprised from 10 feet away, countless ducks and lots of bats), a fun ATV excursion (Siercia and her father and myself AND Widget, who LOVED driving as fast as possible, god bless New Hampshire) and a lot of just nice relaxing down time. I needed it. It was so relaxing, I had forgotten my work computer password when I got back, hah.
The weekend after that involved the first church choir rehearsal, and a kayak trip, and a street fair in Quincy, all of which were enjoyable! This past weekend involved choir singing (we sang good), a LOT of beer and football and XBOX360 games for J's birthday, as well as Geocaching, birthday parties for Hannah's friends (Rollerskating party!) and watching TV and movies. I am still pretty relaxed from vacation, though, it really brought me down from a bit of an edge I'm on.
siercia was away on a business trip for a big piece of last week, and she's going away on a fun KNITTY trip this week. Being Solo Dad isn't too tough, all things considered, and Siercia LOVES her some KNITTY.
What's coming up?
Training in Washington DC next week, meeting up with
biophile6 and
nruubenstein and some other fine DC Folks (lj user="dindin">?) for some dinner and fun times out in the evening. After that? It's the final autocross event of the year, where I get to FINALLY WIN instead of coming in second (and I am going to win).
Mid-November, we're doing an early birthday weekend for me in NYC, and then biophile6's wedding is the weekend after that, and then two weeks later, we're BACK in DC again (3rd time in 2 months) for Siercia's Cousin's wedding.
Music I'm listening to lately.
Royksopp (thanks Ms. Maura), Big and Rich (thanks PrunesnPrisms), Fountains of Wayne, Luciano Pavarotti (thanks Mom), Plain White T's (thanks Radio)
That's me.
