It's coming right for us!!!
Oct. 16th, 2006 04:12 pmLast week, I got home late with Hannah one night, probably 8:30pm or later. She asked to be carried in, so I picked her up, and we spent a few minutes looking at the stars, and airplanes, and things like that flying by. Just as I was about to head inside, I glanced up and saw a Meteor! Just one, it looked pretty big and bright, and flared yellowish as it burned up and winked out.
Looking it up today, it seems I saw an early Orionid, a remnant of bits of Halley's Comet, and it was a little early in the cycle, as Orionids usually run from 10/7 to 10/27 or so. Still, now I have an excuse to not sit around out in the cold and wait for more. I saw mine!
