For our Boston Friends (or those who want a roadtrip)

If you myself and [livejournal.com profile] siercia, you know how many books we have. Well, we've decided we have TOO MANY books. We're going to be moving around some bookshelves, and divesting ourselves of some books. Do you want any of them? We currently have 4 boxes full, and are adding more to the collection as I procure more boxes!

If so, feel free to give a call and drop by to check out the BOXES AND BOXES of books.

What do we have? Well, I sure as hell ain't listing it all individually!

We have

Various Novels (Sci-Fi, Mystery, Other)
Lots of books on American History
A lot of books on business practices and planning.
Biographies (Bram Stoker!)
Memoirs (Edward Teller)
Non-Fiction, a lot of these.
Women's History (plenty)

I also have collections of military history books to give away, lots of Time-Life books on WW2, and Aircraft.

Also: A LOT OF WIRED MAGAZINES, circa early 1990's.

Come by, you can HAVE these if you want them. Give a call!

...and much muc

Me! Me! Memememememememememememememeeeeeeeee!

Though probably not the Teller -- I'm still conflicted about the poor mad bastard.

Heck, you can come by TONIGHT. We'll be home. :) Any time after 8pm is probably safe. Email me if you need directions or somethin'.

I was pointed towards Paperback Swap recently; if you haven't seen it, you might want to check it out. It's a much slower way to get rid of them (especially since it encourages you to get more), but maybe after everyone's picked over what they want, keep one boxfull aside for trading.

Anything we don't get rid of this week is going out in front of the house for a "Do-it-yourself" booksale on Saturday, and then everything left over from that is going to the Church Prison Book program. Don't need no new books, I'm finding some I STILL haven't read.

wired???? you mean the rock magazine that went defunct in the late '90s????

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, the computer magazine that's currently online-only.

I have multiple volumes of pretty much everything you named there or I wuld help lighten your shelves :)

o.O people don't give away BOOKS.

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I know, but I've tried selling most of these, they've been on Half.com for YEARS, and no one wants them. I have a nice little paperback on pivotal battles of the Civil War you might want... :)

[identity profile] ex-prunesnp.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
What's the title?

[identity profile] biophile6.livejournal.com 2006-09-20 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I would like to come up and grab my pile of os9 stuff since there will now be space to put it up again, and the need and utility to use that machine!

Maybe in a few weeks I can come up and anything you want can be copied up by then or sumpin.

That whole bag is safely out of the way downstairs, happily snoozing in its plastic bag. It'll be here!

I'd be interested in poking through the fiction, computer books, and military history, but I don't see myself getting down to your neck of the woods before Saturday. What kind of time were you thinking of selling on Saturday? (The kind of time I was thinking of was shortly before going off to Game Night, but that may not work well for you.)

If you still have stuff listed on Half.com, I could browse things there...

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Looks like we're not selling stuff Saturday, and we can hold whatever we have for you to come and visit. We'll be here before game night (or we can be, anyway) and we're heading to game night EARLY, so 3pm or so would be good. Most of this stuff, at this point, ISN'T on half.com anymore. Sorry.

[identity profile] tool-of-satan.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I should be able to stop by around 3, but I don't want to inconvenience you, as I probably wouldn't take more than a handful of books (as I have too many already myself).

If you would like to just dispose of all of them now, an idea I just had is to bring them to Game Night - after everyone there picks through them, you can then take the remainders to the Goodwill in Davis, which does a big business in books and I'm sure would be glad to have them. You could take a tax write-off for them which would probably be at least as much as you'd get selling them.

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I may bring them along... all five large boxes full... :)

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, yeah, don't stop by. I'll put them in the car and bring them to game night. You can peep them there.

[identity profile] tool-of-satan.livejournal.com 2006-09-22 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a plan.

[identity profile] rachelmichellek.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
holy frick, do i wish i was there!

boston has a books-to-prisoners program, BTW...

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2006-09-25 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
We've already given some to the Prison Book group at our church.
