How did you spend summers when you were a kid?

Riding my bicycle around my grandparent's place in Upstate NY, or going to play Miniature Golf with my Uncle.

How did you spend summers when you were a kid?

The elementary school at the end of the block had a Summer Rec Center run out of the gymnasium, and we had a family membership in the community pool. We spent the summertime running around the school gym, playground and field, going back and forth to the pool, and cycling/romping around the several miles of nature trails that fanned out from the community center.

All five of the houses that surrounded my back yard held kids of my or my brothers age. We'd be in and out of the other houses, having endless games of 'war' with toy guns, and up and down all the treehouses and ziplines.

And of course, there were frequent trips to the library, both to cool off in the AC and to feed my need to read.

Jewish day camp. Every Friday afternoon we'd get cleaned up and put our camp t-shirts on and go into the auditorium and say the blessings and sing songs. I remember being small and tan and clean and happy.

i think mostly i bikes around in the sun, too. lots of biking.

we sometimes pulled weeds from the lawn (well, i did, erk filled his bag with trash, and stole my weeds to lay on top of his milk boxes)...then the presented paper bag of "weeds" would get us 50 cents to go swim at memorial pool.

I stayed indoors to keep away from the pollen a lot of the time. Often went up from Ramsgate (on the coast opposite northern France) to visit grandparents in Strood. Played with my brother a lot, with the Lego and the Transformers and all that; in later years it was computer programming and various kinds of artwork and then hanging out with friends.
