No kidding! Literally!

he is lucky that it is a decorative sword... they are usually made of stainless steel. If it was a sword made for combat it could have been made of live steel, and that would have given him a mortal wound.

Yeah, or Bronze! Crazy Wimmins!

i would only guess it was women, if it was a bodice dagger, cause well most men don't wear bodices.

ok, idiot question here. What is the difference between stainless steel and live steel? I thought the edge was what mattered?

[identity profile] wavemaster.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
i apologize, when i say live steel, i mean steel that was designed for combat. i wouldn't pit a well made heavy rapier against a stainless steel one. The amount of carbon and other alloys in a steel blade affect its hardness and flexibility and can be varied according to the skill and desire of the smith.

Though you are right, depending on the shape of the blade too, like a falchion... those are designed to inflict deep wounds.

The man deserved what he got, I say. stupid idiot jerkoff.

Ooooh, falchions ROCK! I will be cleaving meat with one this weekend.

Display blade of not, this dude is a retard. This is why I put away my weapons before having gatherings.

all my edged weapons would be sheathed in a locked room, or locked under glass.

[identity profile] scirocco.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Practically speaking, weren't most of these weapons designed to pierce, lop, or slice people to death? :)

the falchion is uniquely designed to draw itself deeper into the person. it is the closest a sword gets to an axe.

I sympathyze with this woman, but she forgot a basic truth.

The way to a man's heart is just below the notch at the bottom of the breastbone, and up.
